I’m no visual artist. But I tend to notice what passes by on my dash, and I’ve seen some posts going out. Posts about using a mouse instead of a pencil while waiting for a tablet, for various reasons, like wanting to learn digital art for example.

While do think everyone should do whatever they please, there is one thing that bugs me. I just can’t get my head around the logic that to learn this:

You use something that you hold like this:

Instead of a pencil that, surprise-surprise, often is held in the same or similar way as a tablet pen:

Where is the logic people???

It’s like using a wrench as a hammer. You can do it but it’s really really unnecessary when the hammer lies right next to you.

it’s all about what you have right?  i used a pencil first, then (after i got a scanner) i started coloring things with a mouse.  after i had proven to my parents i was committed to it, they bought me a tablet.  so i can use all three, but what do i prefer the most?

the good ol’ fashioned pencil!

also, if anyone thinks painting with a mouse is inferior, they needn’t look further than tumblr user CTchrysler.
